Actor Paul Nicholas delights us with his top TV picks in his own inimitable way and with all bloopers left in, shows that he is still a cheeky chap at 80!

We were delighted to see Paul Nicholas (of Just Good Friends fame) on Youtube recently picking some of his TV favourites for the Rewind TV Freeview channel.
Now aged 80, he is still full of cheeky charm, as demonstrated here with all the bloopers left in!

Paul could recently be seen as the Major in the Fawlty Towers stage play at London’s Apollo Theatre. The sold-out extended run closed in March 2025 and will tour the UK starting in October 2025.

Paul Nicholas Trivia

  • In the early 70’s, he had a successful career as a pop singer in the 1970s. His hit songs included “Reggae Like It Used to Be” and “Dancing with the Captain”
  • He played the role of Jesus in the original London production of Jesus Christ Superstar in 1972
  • He starred as Danny in the original London production of Grease opposite Elaine Paige as Sandy
  • He became a household name in the 1980s sitcom Just Good Friends, written by John Sullivan (of Only Fools and Horses fame). The show was a massive hit and won a BAFTA.
  • With David Ian he set up a theatrical production in the early 90’s which has produced many famous shows including Saturday Night Fever at the London Palladium and Grease several times in the UK and US
  • Through the 2000’s he appeared in many top shows including The Bill, Holby City, Doctors and of course the villainous Gavin Sullivan in EastEnders
